Use the quill to provide stability while tapping. You only need enough down pressure to keep the dead center in the tap. The tap wrench is not shown. You can use a wrench with these larger taps. Use lubricate. Were using tapping fluid in this photo but kerosene or WD-40 will be suitable alternatives. Tap to about 3/4 of the tap length (depth shown).
